TV Actor Dr. Hathi ( Kavi Kumar Azad) died on Monday after suffering a massive heart attack. He breathed his last at Mumbai's Wockhardt Hospital.

TV actor Kavi Kumar Azad, who was best known for his role of Dr Haathi in the popular comdey serial Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma, died on Monday afternoon after suffering a cardiac arrest. He rushed toward Hospital after he complained of discomfort. However, doctors announced Dr Hathi dead on arrival. Reports said a post-mortem is being conducted and the actor’s parents, who had gone to attend a wedding in Lucknow, are returning to Mumbai

Asit Modi said "We are very sad to inform the loss of our senior actor Kavi Kumar Azad. He was playing the character of Dr Hathi in 'Taarak Mehta...'. We lost him to a massive cardiac arrest today morning,"

"He was an amazing actor and a very positive person. He truly loved the show and always came for the shoot even if he was not feeling well. He called today morning saying that he is not well and will not be able to come for shoot. And later we got the news that he passed away. We are all too numb to say anything," added Asit Modi.

The entire team of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is in complete shock and have rushed to the hospital.

Kavi Kumar Azad was from Bihar and moved to Mumbai to try his luck in the entertainment industry. He played role in various films like Mela and Fun2shh, he struck gold after bagging the role of Dr Hansraj Hathi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.

Dr Hathi also owned two fast food outlets in Mumbai. He would often interact with fans at one of his outlets in Mira Road.
